Kingston, Ontario: Tourism Kingston in partnership with the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the launch of Kingston’s Step-On/Step-Off Tour Trolley. The new service will commence on June 29 and will provide optional drop-off/pick-up locations at participating sites: Fort Henry National Historic Site, Bellevue House National Historic Museum, Agnes Etherington Art Centre and Canada’s Penitentiary Museum.
The second tour trolley, a specialty-wrapped coach provided by McCoy Travel for the summer season, will complement the existing Confederation Tour Trolley which has been in operation for over twenty years. Planning for the step-on/step-off service has been underway for the past two years.
Rob Carnegie, Tourism Kingston’s Director of Tourism Marketing and Development says, “Tourism Kingston is proud to partner with the Chamber on this new initiative. The idea of enhancing an existing service and encouraging extended stays through the step-on, step-off service is all part of offering more experiences to our visitors. The second trolley is truly representative of the great attractions that Kingston offers and will certainly make heads turn as it makes its way through the city.”
“The new step-on, step-off feature is a wonderful addition to the Tour Trolley service,” says Mayor Mark Gerretsen. “With this new service visitors now have the option to stay longer at each of the historic destinations that our great city has to offer.”
Operated as a pilot project for the summer of 2012, Tourism Kingston and the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce are working to develop plans to continue the service in future years.
Tickets for the service will be available for purchase at the Visitor Information Centre at 209 Ontario Street and online at http://www.bookkingston.ca .Ticket prices are as follows: Adult $17.50; Senior $14.50; Student $14.50; and children under six are free.
