Using data to predict the impact of gaining or losing a business on the regional economy

The 10:00AM – 3:00PM session consists of a blended classroom style learning and hands-on training with the Input-Output module in Analyst.

The topics that will be covered in the training include:

  • A Brief Overview of the Analyst Program: to orient participants to the earlier modules and structure of the Program and to introduce the new Input-Output module
  • An Introduction to Input-Output Modelling: provide participants with the basic concepts of input-output modelling; connect Input-Output to economic base theory, and; describe advantages and disadvantages of current economic base measurement methodologies.
  • Describing a Regional Economy: Using the power of the tool, provide participants with examples of using descriptive data in the tool and practice using this data in Analyst
  • Estimating Impacts and Changes to a Regional Economy: Using this new function available, provide participants with examples of using predictive data in the tool and practice using this data in Analyst.
  • Use and Limitations of Input-Output Modelling:  Provide participants with an understanding of what they need to know in order to use the new Input-Output module effectively.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to work with the Analyst tool and are encouraged to bring portable computing devices.

Cost: $25.00 per person plus HST and registration fee (includes refreshments and lunch)
