The Ontario East Economic Development Commission (Ontario East) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on February 1, 2024 at Fleming College in Peterborough. The meeting was opened with video greetings from Hon. Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade followed by guest speaker His Worship Jeff Leal, Mayor of the City of Peterborough, Chair of the Eastern Ontario Mayors’ Caucus. Mayor Leal updated attendees on economic development priorities and activities and the importance of partnerships with regional organizations like Ontario East. The following Directors and Officers were approved by the Members and the Board of Directors, respectively:
- President: Stephen Paul, Director, Community Development, Lennox & Addington County
- Vice-President/Treasurer: TJ Flynn, Investment Attraction Officer, Northumberland County
- Past-President: Chris King, CEO, Quinte Economic Development Commission
- Secretary: Jay Amer, Executive Director, Ontario East Economic Development Commission
- New Directors Appointed at the AGM Include:
- Elizabeth Edwards, Economic Development Officer, City of Quinte West
- Jason Kipfer, Executive Director, Growth & Development, Explorer Solutions
- Cyndy Palleske, Executive Director, Community Futures Eastern Ontario
The following retiring Directors were thanked for their contributions to the Commission: Bonnie Ruddock, Executive Director, Regional Tourism Organization RTO 9/Southeastern Ontario and Kelley Lemenchick, Community Development Officer/EODP Coordinator, Renfrew County Community Economic Development Corporation
Welch LLP presented the 2023 Financial Statements and were appointed as auditors for the next fiscal year.
