In November 2011, Belleville will open a new, state-of-the-art facility, producing fresh, retail-ready meats. The Belleville service centre will be home to the most advanced, food processing technology.
Doug Paddock, chief operating officer of Vantage Foods Canada says, “Vantage Foods will hire 150 people for the Belleville-based operation, which will supply meat to 115 Food Basics and Metro retail stores in Eastern Ontario. Belleville provides an excellent distribution point for Ontario with access in to markets, such as Quebec and the Maritimes. Therefore, this facility has great potential for growth and expansion in the future”.
This is great news for the Bay of Quinte region -150 new jobs! As a Canadian who loves his ham sandwiches, I can’t wait to dig my teeth into meat locally processed and packaged in Eastern Ontario. Congratulations Belleville!
