Arnprior pharmaceutical plant sells to cosmetics giant

By Derek Dunn, the Toronto Star, April 14, 2022

A pharmaceutical plant in Arnprior with a long history is writing a new chapter. Pillar5 Pharma recently sold to Anjac Health & Beauty, a cosmetics conglomerate of 14 companies based in France.

“This is a good news story for Arnprior, Pillar5 and their employees,” said Mayor Walter Stack, reading from a prepared statement during the April 11 regular meeting of council. “Pillar5 has recently (March 14) been sold to a company from France.”

Anjac bought the plant for an undisclosed amount, along with recent plans for growth and expansion. Pillar5 — which has had several contracts with prescription-medicine producer Pfizer Canada — completed a $13-million expansion to its sterile ophthalmic suite, eye-related solution, in 2020. It currently has nine job vacancies listed on its website.
