Craft Distillery Wins 4 Medals at the 1st Canadian Artisan Spirits Competition in Vancouver, B.C.

King’s Lock Craft Distillery is pleased to announce they were awarded a medal for each of the four spirits they entered in the competition. A Gold medal was awarded to Canada’s Whiskyjack Rye in the Young Whisky Class along with Silver to Prescott White Rye. Von Schoultz Vodka took Bronze in the Vodka Class. 1000 Islands Moonshine was awarded Silver in the Aged Spirit Class bringing home its second medal in the past year. In June 2017, 1000 Islands Moonshine won a Bronze medal in the International Spirit Competition in London England.

“We are thrilled to be honoured with these medals for our hand crafted spirits,” said Rob Heuvel, owner of the Distillery. “These medals come in our first year of operation and it is gratifying to have our spirits recognized by experts from across Canada.”

All of our Spirits are made locally in Johnstown, Ontario and are certified organic. We are one of the only distilleries in Ontario dedicated to organic spirits. Our Ryes and Vodka are made in small batches from 100% local grains highlighting the quality and flavour of our local area grains. Farms in Vankleek Hill, South Mountain, Iroquois, Morrisburg and other parts of Eastern Ontario all contribute to these award-winning products. Our Moonshine and Rum are made from organic cane sugar and aged to enhance the delicate caramel notes.

We take great pride in operating a sustainable process and green energy. We strive to leave a minimal environmental impact and use renewal strategies wherever possible. This includes providing distillers’ grain for feed and fertilizer to local farmers.
