Kraft Celebration Tour

The City of Quinte West has been buzzing since the recent announcement to host the Kraft Celebration Tour.  After the successful online voting campaign, Trenton High School’s Track Quest was named as the 10th and final stop on the 2012 Tour. The Tour, to be held Sunday, August 26th in the City’s Centennial Park, will feature Kraft activity stations and a live broadcast of TSN’s SPORTSCENTRE featuring hosts Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole.  As part of the program, the school’s Track Quest project will also be presented with a $25,000 prize.  The Track Quest project, originating in 2010, was developed with the intent to fundraise for a new track & field facility at the school to be operational by September of 2012 after the current facility was found to be in a state of disrepair.  The existing track and field complex was built in 1971 and at the time, was heralded as one of the best artificial surfaces in Ontario, if not Canada. Because of its state of the art construction, along with a track and field program that dominated the region at the time, Trenton High School became renowned for hosting annual provincial class track meets.  The new Track, currently under construction, will provide a top-notch facility with potential to rebuild their reputation for hosting annual regional and provincial meets and tournaments.  The local organizing committee has been busy preparing for the event and to have the entire City showcased as the broadcast will feature clips from around the area, human interest stories and will also highlight the home of and strong partnership with 8Wing/CFB Trenton.
